What's funny is that attic

What's funny is that attic owl is posting on this thread with the entire internet at her/his disposal and doesn't bother to try to answer its own question. Etymology is the history of words, and one only has to put that together with assault rifle in a search engine to see what turns up. That is a starting point - have fun and let us know what you find out owl!

Anyone who "enjoys" Ann Coulter on any level other than for the fodder she provides for mockery is most likely too stupid to use the internet for research.

I grew up, till I was

I grew up, till I was seventeen, going only to schools, kindergarten to high school, that were not more than100 yards from the road that General Gages’s army of red coats marched up through Menotomy , to Lexington, and Concord to seize the arms and supplies of the British citizens of Massachusetts on the eighteenth and nineteenth of April of 1775. They retreated down this same road from Concord in disarray being cut to pieces by the British citizens till the remnants got back to Boston. It wasn’t pretty. It was bad for the General’s people when they got to Concord. It was worse still when the retreating British soldiers went through Menotomy where they suffered the most casualties. The remnants of the army threw away their equipment in their headlong retreat back to Boston.

As a boy scout I paraded down that road on Patriots Day. From the windows of my high school I could see that road that ran in front of it. My left knee was destroyed playing football at that high school on that road. I had driver training for my license on that road. I had my first haircut at a shop on that road. The first girl I ever kissed I did it just a block from that road. I was on my father’s shoulders on Patriots day when I saw “Paul Revere” fall off his horse in front of the Town Hall on that road (my father said “Paul” was drunk.) I attended a wedding of a cousin who married in a church on the margin of the Lexington Green on that road. My high school was two miles on that road from the Lexington Green where British citizens fought the British army in the first battle for our country. I can see in my mind’s eye the statue of the minuteman and his gun, standing on a rock at the edge of the Green.

That episode led the founding fathers to put the Second Amendment in place. Research it. You’ll find out that that is the reason. Stating there is a right for the citizens to keep and bear arms and this right cannot be taken away. Was it so the people could hunt ? No. How about they could be safe in their homes? No. Was it so that there is an opportunity for the citizens to overcome a tyranny of the government? Yes. That is the reason why citizens can, by right, own weapons that are equal to the military. General Gage never anticipated the resistance by British citizens. But he should have. Europe has been a mess for centuries. Think about it. The citizens in those countries have practically no power to resist a tyranny. We are unique and we are better off with the Second Amendment. We’ve had our government more than two hundred years. One can easily appreciate the inclination of leftists and Democrats to not want it as a right. They don’t want interference because they believe they are the smartest, the most competent , and enlightened people who should control us. We are the clay they are the potter. They would not want any resistance. So they whittle away relentlessly at that amendment to our Constitution.

Attic owl the left would have

Attic owl the left would have people believe that tyranny doesn’t,t exist here, it is something that happens in third world countries and dictatorships.....but one only has to look at the NSA FISA courts ,and a politicized justice system here in America to realize its roots are deep and strong right here..... There is no better reason to hold tightly to our right to own and bear arms.........I enjoyed you perspective of the events leading up to the Revolunary war..... My family originated from Concord , it’s where they first settled when they came from England and many of them fought in the revolution.....I’ve often wonder if they were there at the events you mentioned....It’s not ancient or irrelevant history it’s a great history........

A 13 year old kid brought a rifle to school in Massillon Ohio intent on killing students. For somereason he changed his mind and committed suicide in the school bathroom. Several comments...most are the same blaming society etc for this situation. Some were constructive. This was a major tragedy averted. The take away is this kid wanted to make a name for himself. He wanted to become famous. He wanted to be on the TV news and he was willing kill and die for his angst and his drive for his 15 minutes. I think if we slammed these people who kill other kids as low-life, slime balls who should never have been born, we might cool their desire to do such things to get famous.

Another killer

Watcher, if all that is true

Watcher, if all that is true ,the most immediate issue is access to the gun !
Which possession of is constitutionally protected but obviously ,parentally unprotected !
I assume your solution includes sending parents a bill for cleaning bathroom !

Bruce, you will note that I said some of the suggestions were helpful. The number that discussed how the sh*t-head got the gun are the productive ones. I offered no ideas about the gun, the parents or anything else except the little jerk-off's desire to be famous. I think that is a causative factor. The "cleaning bathroom" remark was not funny and not related to my point.

(No subject)

Bruce who spent his adult life incarcerating people, somehow believes that his "work" world can be reproduced in the real world. At what cost and who wants to live in that world you lived in. It all needs just some tweaking right Bruce and every thing will be alright, won't be any unintended consequences, no just minor inconveniences.

Actually I spent 40 of my 70 years working with people who were incarcerated by the state.
What that has to do with anything I do not know. You must think you know since you have provided us with another of
your incomprehensible verbalizations.
If you are assuming something about my beliefs on the gun issues you are incorrect IMO as usual.
This is what I know. You provide the best support for the factions that wish to see some changes in various laws and regulations that have been established and found to be constitutional . Regardless of how ineffective or effective they might be and how much you do not like them.
The 2nd is in place and will survive IMO , keep helping and of course that could change.
Oh,here is something I learned from my "work", you like to deride, for every one incarcerated by state in one form or another, there are probably 10 plus who they haven't gotten yet.
Except for their filth and nastiness Smegma and Smegma hit nail right on the head every once in awhile. Did they learn that from your "work" ?

We have had conversations for at least a decade, I consider you an authoritarian by not only your posts but your prior profession. Have I ever met an leo that is not an authoritarian?

There may be a few and there are a few, but I don't believe you fit in the libertarian mindset.

We don't need to rehash the paultards etc, but just let's say, what would it be, the importance of social control vs idealist liberty, God given rights.

One thing we have in common is that ahole George hating our posts and him sitting in the catsbird seat for retirement with no atvs or beavers. Sorry that I bring up what I see as obvious.

Another tragedy averted.

Another tragedy averted. Seems like a young zit-faced little snot wanted to set off a bomb in school as a glorious paean to his beloved ISIS. There are other ways to kill kids other than AR-15 type rifles. Here we have a high school kid who dreams of being a mass murderer. Are we even teaching kids about the evils of extreme Islam? Wonder how many more of these kids are sucked into the maw of the religious monster....

More info on how the cops and

More info on how the cops and school blew this mass murder. The cops didn't know where the shooter was, inside or outside, because the on-site officer gave them wrong info. The cops thought the videos they were watching were live but they were delayed 20 minutes for some unknown but dumb reasons.

This, boys and girls illustrates why our government is incapable of protecting us.

How dare this Gibson guy criticize some air head children? They should have distributed little red books to these children during the walkout, that would have been very appropriate.

Here's where the students should be looking if they really want change. The coruptocrats in the education empire.

What a cesspool of corruption the school was/is. No danger of them even looking here though. Easier to spout memes on TV like trained seals.

I knew you'd relate to some media hyped children who think that they know shit from shinola. Their opinions only influence the weak minded and to be fair, a large segment of Americans fit in that category. How many voted for Hilliary?

They've spent years training

They've spent years training them to think what they're told, instead of thinking for themselves. It was inevitable that doing what they're told would be next. It will backfire. The new cultural revolution will drag those hypocrites out into the street for not being revolutionary enough, just as they did in China. In some instances, that's already happening.
