Looks like the distaff side in college must be given more time to finish their math tests than men. I thought they were after equality...not special treatment.
Oxford Bias against Men
That used to be called... cheating.
What's next? Giving the Chelsea Mannings of the world more time as well?
In high school I was always the first one done on math tests.
In college, back when we did calculus in Blue books, I finished before at least half the class.
Never had to ask for more time!
Everyone, not just women, got the extra 15 minutes to take the test. Watcher, as usual, links to a site that tends to play fast and loose with facts.
J-Ass-per missed the reason for increasing the time limits..
"Students sitting maths and computer science exams last summer were given an extra 15 minutes to complete their papers because "female candidates might be more likely to be adversely affected by time pressure," according to a decision seen by The Daily Telegraph."
True, the time was extended to all students but it was intended to help women...not men, who didn't need it.
The point is that your source straight out lied when there was no need to. Says a lot about you.
The Daily Mail reports, female undergrads were permitted 15 additional minutes over male students
This first line from the rag you linked to was easily fact-checked.
Stating the title incorrectly does not change the facts: they were trying to help women by allowing them more time.
Giving a reason like that one is insulting, especially to those women who do NOT need the extra time. Many of the allowances made in the name of diversity are insults, very demeaning to those who are deemed incapable of success without the help.
Did it help men too? I am curious about that...
A rare point here. Smegma is correct while it might be nit picking but it is a nit that can be picked.
J-Ass-Per, you are correct and I was wrong. I did not do any research before publishing my post. I should have don so noting it was a post from Milo...great guy that he is.
Is the time allowance for real women or does it include anyone who happens to feel like one at that particular moment?
I did not do any research before publishing my post.
You never do. You only admitted your error because you got called out. Otherwise, you swallow everything that comes out of Milo's foul orifices.
When "Foul " is mentioned in a post, of course it is , Smegma !
Jassie and Mattybubbles seem to have a fetish for all bodily fluids.
J-ASS-per, you are a true pube.
I don't always agree with Jasper, but he's totally right in this case.
The article linked was an outright distortion of facts. Which goes to show the bias (on both sides of the aisle) in random website links... for the love of quality thinking, please try to check your sources (I have had many a full post ready to go which I deleted after reading more closely into the facts.)
And while the intention may have been to remove any potential bias in test taking, the point is that both men and women received the same treatment.
So, did they do it for the women - and give men more time too, to avoid bias accusations?
Or is it just that everyone is less capable these days and need more time?
A glance at the Daily Mail's story reveals that the exam time was lengthened out of administrators' concern that too few women were passing the test.
Yes, both sexes can take more time to complete the test but, it seems clear, the change was intended as a remedial accomodation for women. Right?
cis-gendered, I presume.
